Pakistan won a great diplomatic battle in the elections for the new members in UNHRC, as it is once again elected in the council with major votes on October 13, 2020.

PAKISTAN IS RE-ELECTED AS MEMBER UNHRC FOR THE FIFTH TIME ON 13.10.2020
- Pakistan is once again re-elected member of UNHRC (United Nation Human Rights Council) for the fifth time as 169 voted in favor out of 193-member in UN General Assembly (UNGA). Among all the other contenders, Pakistan gained the most votes. Saudi Arabia failed to become a member of UNHRC this time.
- Pakistan was already serving its tenure in UNHRC since January 01, 2018, and will remain in the council for another three years starting from January 01, 2021.

v. 2021–2023 - The UNHRC has a total of 47 members.
- The members are elected for a term of three years on a regional basis.
- The headquarters of UNHRC is in Geneva, Switzerland.
